On a beautiful Saturday morning on May 20th in downtown Raleigh, EG-GILERO was in full effect at The Wake County Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Representing Angelica’s Angels North Carolina team, $26,958 was raised in one day walking in the fight against CF. The donations are still coming in, but even without them, the National Team representing North Carolina, Maryland, New York and Florida has already exceeded the $30,000 goal.
The absolute highlight of the day was when Mary Beth Rock, EG-GILERO Office Manager, and her daughter Angelica, who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis, met Governor Roy Cooper at the NC Governor’s Mansion. Mary Beth, Angelica, and the rest of the Top Team Leaders and their Heroes witnessed the Governor read and sign the Proclamation for May as Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month.
The Angelica’s Angels team was proud to be acknowledged as the top fundraising team of the day. But they were even prouder of their leader Mary Beth Rock, who was awarded Top Strider. And because they had the highest number of fundraising walkers, the entire team was recognized as the Bojangles’ Bo Box Winner.
With the Great Strides Walk and other efforts, great progress is being made in finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. And even though the goal for Wake County Great Strides is certain to be met and exceeded by almost $20,000 by year end, there is still a great need to continue the fight against CF. As Angelica and others with CF continue their fight against this disease, our team Angelica’s Angels will continue to actively look for ways to make a difference and raise money for this worthy and meaningful cause. Please join us!
Big thanks go to all the EG-GILERO employees and their friends and family who donated their resources, money, time and/or put some serious wear on their running shoes for The Wake County Great Strides walk.
